This past Friday, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit ruled in our client’s favor in a precedent-setting case about the proper handling by defense counsel of mental health issues at a federal criminal sentencing. The D.C. Circuit remanded the case to the district judge as we requested. We can now pursue an expert psychological evaluation -- a step overlooked by his prior counsel -- that may ultimately favor lessening his sentence. See the opinion below.
